In quest of empowering and building a winning team, the Research and Innovation Committee headed by Professor Jeremiah .U. Idialu, organised one day workshop for the academic staff of Samuel Adegboyega University, on the 15th June, 2021 at the Law College building.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Idowu, in his opening remarks said that “success is not dependent on where you are, but determined by who you are.” He reiterated that the capacity of men in the University determines the state and degree at which the University will progress. He emphasized that the location and serenity of SAU should be a motivation for research for all academic staff. He said as the Vice-Chancellor, despite the limited resources available to the University, leaving good behind and building capacity will be doggedly pursued by his administration.
Professor A. M. Shittu, of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management, Federal University of Agriculture, a profound Grant winner, who delivered the main lecture at during the workshop titled ‘’International Frame Work for Grant Sourcing and Management’’ said the University was basically established for three (3) major reasons –Teaching, Research and Extension. He added that for any Univerty to grow, research funding should be the sole responsibility of the larger society. After the very elaborate lecture, questions for clarification on grey areas were satisfactorily answered by Professor Shittu.
Dr. M.O. Kehinde, of the Department of Agriculture, Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Ilorin, also a Grant winner, delivered extensive lecture on ‘’ How to Sell Your Ideas: Key requirement in securing Grants, Design of the Action, Management of the Action and Sources for funding Research”.
In his closing remarks, Prof. Idialu thanked the facilitators of the workshop for a job well done and for broadening the horizon of the participants and said they were prepared well enough to writing a winning proposal henceforth. He also thanked the Vice-Chancellor and his Management Team for the enabling environment and sponsoring the workshop.
