The newly inaugurated Board of Trustees of Samuel Adegboyega University, Ogwa Edo State led by the Chairman, Professor Samson .A. Fatokun, on the 22nd June 2021 paid a familiarization visit to the University to have a firsthand knowledge on the achievement and challenges facing the Institution, four days after inauguration.
It will be recalled that the Proprietor of the University, The Apostolic Church, LAWNA Territory, sworn in new Board of Trustees on 18th June 2021, in Lagos. The new Board has Pastor Professor S. A. Fatokun (Chairman), Elder Professor Peter A. Okebukola, Pastor (Dr.) L. O. Oladele, Elder Dr. Kehinde Abiola, Deaconess V.B. Ihesiulor, Elder S. E. Umoh, Elder Gbenga Olowu, Professor A. Babatunde Idowu (Vice Chancellor), Professor Elder S. A. Garba, Barr. Z.T. Kantoma and Pastor Dr. M. O. Oyewole (Secretary).
While taking the Board Members around the University, Professor Fatokun said his Team was in a hurry to hit the ground running in order to achieve the vision of the founding fathers of the great Institution.
Receiving the Board members, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Idowu, said he was elated to receive the new leadership just four days after their inauguration. According to the Vice Chancellor, the urgency of their visit showed that the new Board was ready to move the University to the next level.
The Vice – Chancellor and his Management Team made up of the Registrar, Mr. A.O Esan, University Librarian, Dr. E.B. Ajala and the Bursar, Mr. S. F. Akinpelu took the visiting Team round the campus to have a first–hand assessment of the facilities, staff and students.
In his remark, the Chairman of the BOT, Professor Fatokun, who was in the company of Deaconess V.B. Ihesiulor, Elder S. E. Umoh, Dr. K. Abiola and Dr. M. O. Oyewole , said he was impressed with the level of growth in SAU but added that more would be done. He promised that publicity will be given priority to further boost the visibility of the University. According to him “available records indicate that the academic standard of the Institution is second to none”. He praised the Vice-Chancellor for seriously improving on solid foundation laid by his predecessors.
Responding to questions after the tour of the campus, the Chairman said he had seen the areas the Institution needed urgent attention and he was taking the message back to the entire Board.
After the tour of the campus, the train moved to the palace of the Onogie of Ogwa, HRH Zaiki Victor. A. Ehizogie JP for a courtesy visit. At the palace, the Chairman said his Team came to thank the Onogie for all his unflinching supports and hospitality over the years. Responding, the Onogie welcomed the Team and said he was pleased with the new BOT. The Onogie also prayed for the success of the new Board. He reassured the Chairman and his Team that the community would continue to support the University. The King also encouraged the BOT Chairman to use his good offices to bring the much desired growth to the young Institution.
